Description
The reason for sale is that over the past few years I have increasingly switched to western riding, travel regularly, and also have plans to emigrate in the coming years. With the future in mind, this feels like the right time to find a very nice and permanent new home for Goldie.
I have owned Goldie since he was 6, and trained him myself up to the sport level. He has competed at L showjumping with win points and L dressage with win points.
Goldie jumps with great pleasure. He is bold and confident to the fence, always wants to get to the other side, and helps you out well when a distance is not quite perfect. He is not easily impressed by anything and knows how to shut out the outside world well at shows. He knows how to take care of himself in the course and is not afraid to put in a big jump. He can get strong in the process and has a mind of his own when you hold him back. Therefore, when it comes to jumping, I am not looking for a beginner rider, but someone who rides calmly and correctly and stands firm in their shoes.
In dressage, Goldie is very nice and well-behaved to ride. He is well-trained, has a wonderful canter, and has performed neatly in both B and L dressage. He also won prizes here. In addition, he has completed several cross-country lessons and practice cross-country courses and is well-behaved on hacks. So he is a great horse for someone who enjoys a variety of activities.
Over the past two years Goldie has been kept in regular work, but due to my switch to western riding, jumping has no longer been a priority. When he does jump, he still picks it up enthusiastically.
In daily handling, Goldie is extremely well-behaved and level-headed. Children can fetch him from the pasture, he is well-behaved with the farrier and dentist, and you can always just hop on and ride off, even bareback. In strange surroundings he quickly feels at home, and crowds or a different environment make little impression on him. He has been to pony camp several times in recent years and can wait calmly on the horse trailer for hours at competitions.
Together we achieved, among other things, an 8th prize at the Friesian Outdoor Championships and a 5th place in the final ranking of the Horses2Fly competition during Indoor Friesland.
For Goldie I am looking for someone who enjoys doing a variety of things with him. He can still happily jump or be ridden in dressage, but I would just as happily see him go hacking, do the occasional cross-country, or simply enjoy some leisure activities. Performance does not have to be the main goal; a nice and varied life does.
Goldie is turned out 24/7 in the summer and outside during the day in the winter. A place where he can get outside a lot is therefore my preference.
Goldie has always been healthy with me, has no stable vices, and his vaccinations and deworming are up to date. There is no clinical or radiographic examination available. A full vetting is of course allowed, at the buyer's expense.
A good home is paramount and I find it important that contact with his new owner remains possible. I am still in contact with Goldie's breeder and first owner, which has always been immensely nice.
