TOUGH 5-YEAR-OLD (BROOD)MARE FOR SALE

After much deliberation, we have decided to sell our 5-year-old mare Rosie.

First, a few facts:
- PROK inspected
- D-OC predicate
- Free of stable vices
- Well-behaved on the trailer
- Well-behaved at the farrier
- Well-behaved at the vet
- Kind to other horses
- Easy to handle
- Trained at L level
- No competition experience yet

Now for the story of why we are selling her:
We bought Rosie as a 3-year-old from the breeder. She was backed shortly afterwards. In her second week with the trainer, she was already allowed to go on her first hack around the property, and in her fourth week, we could take her home after being backed. She behaved impeccably.

She also behaves impeccably when ridden at home and at the riding school. She is very light in the mouth and easy to steer. A B or L1 test goes well enough to potentially enter competitions. She can participate in club lessons as well as be ridden individually. She has no trouble at all if other horses leave and she is left behind alone. She is definitely not hot in terms of pace. You really have to ride the pace into her yourself. She would also be suitable to ride in a team of four, because she adjusts her pace to the horse in front of her without becoming sticky. She is not phased by poles, white fences, or other materials such as cones or a large ball. So she could become a very versatile horse.

But… Rosie is somewhat of a drama queen who needs a rider who dares to take clear leadership. Rosie is not impressed by unusual things, but she startles easily. Specifically by everyday things. A red-and-white ribbon fluttering in the wind is no problem at all, but a little bird flying out of a bush is terrifying. Anything she sees in time, you can guide her past by taking the lead. The things she does not expect are what startle her. She does not buck when this happens. She simply turns around very quickly and sharply.

In the first year, this startling behavior led to a few falls for her rider. This startling behavior has since decreased significantly, but the rider remains too insecure to enjoy riding her. We have been thinking about selling her for a while, but we just couldn't make the final decision.
Unfortunately, Rosie is now uneven, and because the rider remains insecure, we have decided to proceed with the sale after all. We choose not to have her unevenness investigated ourselves and therefore to sell her as a broodmare.

Rosie will only be sold if we have a good feeling about the buyer.
We are now advertising her as a broodmare, but she has not failed a vet check! We give no guarantees, but it is still a possibility that she recovers and can simply be ridden again.
It is up to the buyer to have an investigation carried out or to give her time to recover.

Pre-purchase exam is allowed, at the buyer's expense.
